Tell us a little about The Homemakery and what we can expect to find over on your site?
The Homemakery grew out of my love of crafting and decorating. Ever since I can remember I have been making things; sewing, stitching, crochet, quilting and knitting I do it all!  When it comes to shopping for craft supplies I’m not fortunate to live close enough to a decent craft shop so I relied upon online shops to service all my crafty needs. I got fed up of searching high and low over the web for everything I wanted and felt there must be a gap in the market for an online craft boutique that brings together pretty yarns in gorgeous colours, beautiful fabrics for quilts, clothes and homewares, paper bags, bakers twine and pretty straws for parties all in one place.

That’s basically the Homemakery in a nutshell a one stop shop for the prettiest craft materials on the internet!

What has influenced your passion for crafting?
Like most people I loved making things when I was little and I have very fond memories of learning to sew, stitch and knit with my mum.  It was really when I moved to London and started working that I began crafting in my spare time. I think it was something to do with crunching numbers and writing reports all day, I needed a creative outlet to balance that out.

Now I just love making, in fact I may be addicted to it! I love the process of starting a new project, getting the idea, shopping for craft materials and the anticipation of beginning something new. Then I love that huge sense of satisfaction I get from finishing a project and looking at it and knowing that I made that, I created that. Its a fantastic feeling!
Where do you find your sources of inspiration?
I love craft magazines like Mollie Makes & Homemaker Magazine as well as lifestyle magazines like The Simple Things & Country Living. I also love browsing pinterest, blogs and I’m hugely inspired to see what people are making on Instagram.

Living in the country and having a dog means Im outside every day and noticing the subtle changes in the weather and the flora and fauna and I think I reflect that in my crafting. I love crocheting snoods and blankets in the autumn and winter, then come the spring and summer I like to dabble in making clothes and cross stitching outside.
You have many talents when it come to making things for your home, what is your favourite craft?
I truthfully don't have a favourite craft (at the moment!) I just really just love creating something unique, beautiful and special to me. I would much rather make something for my home than buy something off the shelf. At the moment most of my makes are home décor related I love making quilts, crocheting blankets and whipping up cushion covers. I'm also partial to making my own lampshades. I love how lampshades covered in a pretty fabric can instantly change the look of a room.

Be sure to pop over to The Homemakery website you wont be disappointed.
