Crochet Baby Blanket No.1

For a good number of weeks now I have been slowly hooking up my very first baby blanket. I can now breath a sigh of relief and say..."Yippee one down, one to go!" It has been a wonderful experience to make this blanket, as it has grown in size so has my tummy and I can not ignore the fact that I am soon going to be a mummy of identical twins and that fills my heart more than I could have ever imagined.

This is an Amy Dorr pattern, worked up in Sublime Baby Cashmere Merino Silk 4ply (shade 0100). If you are interested in creating your own version you can download the pattern from Etsy

I loved the pattern as soon as I first saw it, it's a delicate combination of plain stitch, bobbles and shells, and after a wee bit of practice I found the pattern really simple to work up. I added my own little finishing touch, which is a round of UK Treble Stitch in blue (Shade 0051) followed by a simple border of UK Double Stitch. I love the combination of the two colours and the simple edge.

As I stand here in what will soon become our Identical Twins bedroom, I cant quite comprehend the shear joy that is about to enter our world and fill our hearts with even more love. Two tiny babies are wriggling about in my tummy and growing by the day. They are due early next year, it will soon be time to wrap them up warm and snuggle, a thought that brings a smile to my face.

With that in mind I must crack on with Baby Blanket No.2  (I will mainly be free-styling on the next one. It will be made up of rows of UK Treble Stitch with a few rows of Bobbles thrown in for good measure)
